Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I have a small 1 bedroom apt.and my electric bill is $250 a mo. I have had the maint. guys out a dozen times to fix the a/c and they keep saying it's fixed but it rins all the time just to hit between 75 and 78 degrees. one of the guys said "there is no insulation in the attics" I'm sure he meant very little or bad insulation. I know I can take my rent to the city clerk or someone untill they fix it and I can find out who but my question is should'nt they pay me back for the extra electric bills? my sister has a 2 bedroom in the same complex but another building and hers is a bigger 2 bedroom place and her electric is only $120 mo. and when I was in a differant 1 bedroom unit it was $70-80 a month. they made me move so they could renovate the other unit and then said I was stuck when I asked to move back because all the other units are rented out but I know my old one is not rented out but they use it as a "show unit" please help I can't afford my bills now as I work part time and I am a studant and my electric is getting shut off this week

Find the nearest Legal Aid clinic in your area. These are staffed with lawyers who are willing to help people for very low rates, or free. Tenant-Landlord problems such as yours are very common. Sometimes a phone call or a letter from an attorney can help landlords to want to do the right thing. Be sure to have copies of your lease, and electric bills, and any correspondence between you and the landlord. If your lease has the address of your former apartment, and the lease is still current, you may be able to force the landlord to permit you to move back into the unit.
