Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
tenant damages and loss of income
I rented a portion of my home as an apt. to my neighbors mother. Tenant flooded apt. and my home downstairs. Apt. is unlivable until expensive repairs are made. I have sent multiple written notice to meet with me re: payment for damage. Wife says husband wont give up her mothers money ($1200./mo.) I have written lease and daughter/neighbor is guarantor of lease. Mother now staying with them. If I take them to court will she also have to pay me for the loss of income while home is being repaired?

Re: tenant damages and loss of income
It depends. Do you mean loss of income from the rent (yes, you can sue for that)? Do you mean loss of income because you work out of the home and can't do that now (yes, you can sue for that)? Do you mean loss of income for time spent on your lawsuit (no, you can't sue for that)?
