Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Tenant and Landlord
I transferred into an apt. in the same complex 4 months ago. Due to a computer error SS has not sent my payments and are in the process of fixing the problem, my apartment is all inclusive and I am 2 months behind now they are threatening to cut off my lights and they never took over the cable bill and each time I have asked for the new lease (because this was a bigger apt. and everything changed on the lease) they say that it's not a good time or they are busy whatever there is always an excuse. I know that I am facing eviction but what happens when there is no lease? I am now in debt to the cable company for $200 that they were supposed to switch over they brought me a cable box and switched the box but it remained in my name for some reason. I understand that I am by no fault of my own behind on rent which is getting to 3 months now hopeful that SS has this straightened out anyday but also I worry because the manager has came to the apt. and accepted cash because I am disabled even though they say they don't take cash and this was before I was behind. She said she would bring the receipt back but as usual no time or they are busy. She does a lot behind the owners back and is now hostile to me since he found it but no proo

Re: Tenant and Landlord
If you have no written lease there are shorter eviction notice requirements.
Never give someone cash for payment without getting a receipt in return. They can always just write one out right then and there.
