Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Not Really a Tenant?
We had a person move into our home to help with some repairs. This person was in need of a place to live, and we were in need of some repairs (the part of the house this person was living in was separate from the main part of the home - garage was turned into two bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen). Apparently, he had his girlfriend move in, and we were unaware of this. We tried working something out, but she won't pay rent or anything. We asked her to move out after he had left and she will not. I live in Florida; Do I need to file an eviction, even though there is no rental agreement or anything of the sort? I just want her out as soon as possible (as does everyone in this situation) and she won't leave. Are there any tricks that I don't know of to get her out? The law seems to be working against Landlords in deadbeat tenant situations.
