Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I turned in the keys to a rental property in Florida on Nov 4. I received an email on the 18th that they would be keeping $200 of my $1,000 security deposit for damages to the carpet. Several days later I get an email that they have stopped payment on the check because they want to see their options for the carpet. It has now been almost a month since I've turned in the keys and they are "searching for the best quote to replace the carpet." I'm working with the realtor in charge of the property because the owners live in another country. What can I do?

Retain an attorney familiar with L&T law. They are violating the law. What did they say was wrong with the carpet?
