Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My wife and I were separated briefly (August 2015 to October 2015)....we have been married and/or togetrher for 12 years. During that period she rented an apartment for herself and our children. Unfortunately, her credit is poor and her father had to "co-sign" the lease agreement. We have since decided that we are staying together, saving our marriage and our family. The issue is that "Daddy Dearest" is not happy with our decision and is threatening us and trying to assassinate my character. We have tried to reason with him and nothing is working. We are not children, I am 47 and my wife is 33...our children are 5 and 8. He has threatned kicking me out because he is "co-signer" on lease, going to landlord and getting his name off of the lease, kicking us both out and sub-letting the unit, etc.
Please help!! What can/can't he do? What recourse do I have for his repeated attempts at character assassination...doing absurd background checks to try and "dig up dirt" from my past and relay that info to my wife...fortunately for me I have told my wife everything there is to know about me...but it still isn't right or fair. Sending awful, nasty, cruel texts and emails...help!!

Just because he co-signed gives him no rights. If your wife stops paying the rent then he will be responsible for the debt. As to him harrasing you and digging up dirt, these are forms of defamation and he can be sued for it.
While you have your wife's permission, do you have LL permission?
