Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida
blackmail
I have a friend who used to worked as a realtor for a real estate company, everything was ok till he decided to quit since that company didn't provide him with any legal support or information, one week before she got paid on a close deal, for a reasson that check bounced and then he didn't want to give him his money back saying that was another deal that has problems because the customer was suit him. fortunally my friend re deposit his check and got his fair earned money back. Now this ''broker'' is threating him saying that either he gives him $3000 or he will suit my friend for being ilegal? Isn't this conside blackmail? plus this broker didn't even have a office as demanding by law?

Re: blackmail
It may technically fall under the catagory of extorsion. The definition in the crimminal statutes is very broad and could cover this type of a threat.
I don't know what you mean by saying that he "will suit my friend for being illegal." If you mean that your friend is here in the country illegally, the guy can't file a lawsuit about that, but he could notify the immigration authorties.
I'd really need to know more of the facts to comment further.
