Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida
I was downsized out aof a job on May 6th, and the payroll company mistakenly deducted 401K money from my severence check. I received a phone call from them on July 19, letting me know that the amount they have deducted would be sent to me with their apologies. Today I received a letterhead envelope from my former employer with teh check inside. The secure paycheck had the end stubs removed and the top had been opened. My name and address were on the front of the secure envelope. Was it legal for them to open my check?

Let's put it this way, it was not illegal.
