Former Employer Dishonesty

I am a Florida independent insurance agent that recently left an agency to begin my own insurance agency. My former employer falsely represented himself as one of my employees to an insurance company in order to gain information about my business. Is this a violation of a law?

Yes Congress just recently held hearings about this type of fraud and I believe has passed a law making it illegal. FL may already have a law. Consult a local attorney if you want to sue and report it to the police and possibly the FBI.
