Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida
Mediator error?
when starting a mediation procedure involving the manufactured home park owners and the negotiators for the residents, the mediator (lawyer) informed the residents' negotiators that all of the issues that were the reasons for mediation could not be discussed only a rental amount resolve could. Needless to say we were upset and flabbergasted. The negotiators carried on and hammered out a less than desirable agreement. Florida Statute 723 is significant in this situation

Re: Mediator error?
It sounds like the owners paid for the mediator, or maybe the mediator meant that you could not legally get changes in the other areas? Also, the purpose of mediation is not to get everything for all parties but to reach a compromise that everyone can live with. Let me know if you want a legal opinion about what happened, why and what you can do now.
