Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida

I recently had a kitchen remodel. The plumber, who was referred by the Kitchen Designer, had to turn off

all the water going to the kitchen, including the water line to the icemaker, which was located under

the sink in the master bath. When the plumber came back to reconnect water to the kitchen, he turned on the

valve under the sink in the master bath. Ten days later, I noticed my master bath cabinets were warped.

Turns out there was a slow leak. When the plumber came out to fix it, he blamed it on an

old and or faulty valve. However he did NOT replace the valve, he just tightened it. It no longer leaks.

He says he is not responsible because he did not do any work in the master bath.

Does he hold any responsibity?

He turned on the valve under the sink in master bedroom because that was there the water line was located? He may have some responsibility for not advising you that the valve was leaking or had that potential. It is a stretch. He may not have been able to tell there was a small leak either. You would need another plumber expert to support the claim to take it to Court. You dont mention the total amount of damage, but it may not be worth it.
