dispersing of monies in settlement

how long can a lawyer not disperse monies after settlement?settled in oct. 2007 haven't seen anything yet

It depends on the reason. If there is a lien, the amount claimed must be withheld until that issue is resolved. I have seen the federal government take over a year to get their act together on resolving liens.
