Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida
I had the completion of a hysterectomy in 2003 by having my last ovary removed. So I started surgical menopause. That doctor never put me on hormone therapy and never ordered a bone density test as 7 years went by. I had a bone density test in 2001 from my old primary doctor and discovered that I had the beginning of Osteoperosis in my right hip, but no treatment was ordered. I changed primary doctors around 2005. Since nobody ever mentioned a bone density test and I felt that I needed the test, I finally requested one from my current primary doctor and find out that I am welll advanced into Osteoperosis is both hips and lower lumbar. My Primary doctor immediately ordered some medication for me to start taking right away and my OBGYN called me when he got a copy of the results and said that I needed to be on therapy as soon as possible as my bones were very weak and have a high risk of fracture. He said "this is what happens with menopause". If tha't's the case, why did he never order a bone density test? Would that doctor be responsible and is that just reason for a lawsuit?
