Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida
If a Dentist has a Hygientist take blood pressure and its high, meaning 160/100, and then approves the prophy (cleaning) be done. The patient then has a stroke and dies the next day. What would the circumstances of this situation be in a court of law? Meaning who would be at fault... The hygientist or the Dentist?

Assuming that the procedure should not have been performed with BP that high and the stroke was caused by the high BP and could have been prevented if the procedure was not performed and appropriate measures taken because of the high BP, then it is principally the dentists fault and the hygenist would not be at fault, assuming that she correctly reported the high BP to the dentist (otherwise, she would be at fault).
