after being discharged

How long must a doctor cover a patiant after he is discharged from the dr care. my reason for asking is i have been going to the same clinic for over a year and they wrote me pain meds for chronic pain and i whent to the office today and they told me i was dischared and would not be seen. i have been taking the same meds over a year and without it i will go into withdraw i did not get any notice so i could find another dr so i thought this to be bad buisness thanks for your time and i was told they have to cover me for 30 days but do not know how tofind a document stating this thanks again--name removed---name removed--

It is hard to give you a "for certain" answer without more of the details, but generally, if you have been seeing the doctor for over a year and your condition is not something that requires emergent care, the doctor is under no obligation to continue to see you. If you have been discharged with medication for the next month, that would normally be a reasonable time period for you to locate and see another physician.
