Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida

paralyzed vocal cord

i had elective removal of left thyroid 2 years ago. lost voice for 10 months but recoverred with weaker voice. they found cancer on the thyroid so i was adviced to have the other one done. Went to see 2 other doctors to have vocal cord checked and both agreed paralysis of left vocal cord. I can speak because right side compensated. Now i'm distressed about having another surgery since the surgeon paralyzed my laryngeal nerve to vocal cord. This prevents me from having surgery that i was adviced to have. Can I still file for lawsuit eventhough its more than 2 years since surgery. My vocal cord test was done 1 year ago and 1 month ago and confirmed paralysis

Re: paralyzed vocal cord

Perhaps -- but it's hard to tell from the facts. You can extend the statute of limitations for 90 days by filing a petition for extension in the appropriate circuit court. The real question is whether the paralyzed chords is just one of those things or whether it was caused by an act of medical negligence. Medical malprractice cases in Florida are very difficult and very expensive to pursue -- so do not delay in seeking specific advice from an attorney that specializes in medical malpractice cases.
