I haven't seen the Code of Ethics in a while, but I see no ethical consideration here as I would, if the Naval Command got a series of dunning letters about late payments on credit cards or such.

I don't know about the code of ethics, but financial mismanagement may have an impact on security clearances. That said, however, the fact of financial difficulties is not alone dispositive.

Military personnel frequently take bankruptcy, and it would be unlawful to inflict punishment on a sailor for doing so. But the sailor could lose the clearance.

If you are in danger of foreclosure, see JAG to determine if the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act may be of help to you. Also notify your chain of command that you have the problem. Your commander would much rather hear this from you than the bank.

Good luck, and thanks for your service.
