Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

7 years ago, a fellow emloyee hit my car in the parking lot. He asked that I not inform insurance of the incident and wanted to pay me directly. I provided him with 2 invoices, one for $1200 and one for $1400 plus. He then dodged me for eseveral weeks until I delivered the estimate to his home, and left it under his door. He had the police contact me and said I was harrassing him. He then relocated, due to his work, to Texas.

I recently beacme aware he is back in the area and owns a transmisison business. I still have witnesses to the incident.

Do I have ANY legal recourse after this long? The car eventually was totalled, since the driver side door was bashed in from the incident and unusable.

I have a typed record of the incident date, time and susbsequent documentation of trying to get him to respond to the estimate.

I live in Florida. Thank you.
