Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Accident and the Police officer was at fault

I am asking this again because i think my question should be a little more detailed. I was at a red light when a police officer waved me threw an intersection (funeral coming) I proceeded threw as i was directed to do and was T-Boned. Brand new truck, 3 months old, 1500 miles, 4 kids in the car, and a vehicle with about $14,000.00 worth of damage. My truck has been repaired (i hope) and I just want to know what about all the car payments, (truck was in repair shop for months, they have had it as long as i have, if not longer), insurance, rental, deductables, value of my new truck? It can't be worth what it was before the accident. The hassels, inconviences that led up to all of this? The officer admitted fault on the spot. What kind of liability does he have for not securing that intersection properly? For failing to do his job correctly? I have received a letter form a lawyer the other party hired. Do i need my own? Will my insurance company defend me from that? What do I do now? Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Accident and the Police officer was at fault

The proper answer is as follows:

1. Your insurance carrier should defend you for any claim made against you.Notify them.

2. If you have any uncompensated damages a Notice of Claim was to have been filed against the municipality involved within a certain period of time after the accident or your claim is barred.
