Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

accident at work

my friend had an accident at work, we consulted with an attorney and he wants 40% based on contingency. Isnt that too much? I am trying to find out what is a reasonable fee percentage a lawyer should ask for. To be better educated.

DearSir or Ma'am:

40% seems kind of high to me, especially if the case does not get filed in court.

If you like, you may have your friend call me. I would pursue the case at a lower rate than the 40% that was quoted by the other lawyer.

Re: accident at work

Fees are negotiable. If it happened at work, it may be solely a wc matter.

Re: accident at work

Contingency contracts are 33 1/3 % plus costs and if suit is filed it jumps to 40%.

Remember attorneys work for you for a year or two NOT asking for a penny. There are many hours worth of work that goes into a Personal Injury case.
