Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

auto insurance, car title and teen drivers

Have identical twin teen boys-about to purchase cars and insure them. A lawyer in a TV interview stated there would not be parental liability in the event of an accident, if car ownership was by teen alone, and the teen was insured seperately. However, have read elsewhere that if teen is high school student, resides at home, and parents have signed for the auto loan, they will still be liable and their assets at risk.

The lawter in the TV interview is wrong. signing that permission slip by law makes you liable. There are limits and the statute identifies the amount under various circumstances. Your insurance agent will be able to explain this to you as well.
