Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

car accident with suspended license

I was involved in an accident where a semi ran over me. At the time, I am not sure that my license was valid or not as my insurance had lapsed in the month prior. I am licensed in the state of Florida and they have told me that my license is valid through 2004 per the last conversation I had with them in January of 2000. My accident took place in August of 1999 in TN and the other driver was 100% at fault. His insurance has paid for my totaled car, however I have yet to receive compensation for medical and loss of property. Would the driver at fault be legally liable to pay for these damages in the event that my license had been suspended at the time of the accident? Again, I had no fault in the accident at all.

Re: car accident with suspended license

It sounds as if your license was valid. But even if it was not valid, under Tennessee law that will not effect your claim against the driver.

From your question it would appear that you do not yet have an attorney.... this is often a serious mistake in trying to settle claims with insurance companies.

If this is the case, I strongly urge you to check my website at jesbeard.com for some information that whould prove wuite valuable. In particular, look at the following links: jesbeard.com/44c.htm and jesbeard.com/44aa.htm
