Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
There are companies throughout the US, that have started newspapers exploiting persons who have been arrested (ie, mugshots.com). They also have a website whereby, they are charging an exhorbitant amount of money ($400), to have personal information removed from their sites. Now, this is the case even if the person's case has been dismissed legally. My questions: how can these private companies be regulated; can they be sued for some sort of privacy infringement law; can they be sued for overcharging? Is there some kind of violation they should be held accountable for? Isn't this some form of exploitation - using other people's misery to profit from? And most of all, is there a way to shut them down?
Thank you.
