Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

my dad was out of the country and his car was used without him knowing and was involved in an accident,he is back now and recieved a letter notifying him of the accident, if he has know idea of who used his car when he was away what should he do in regards to the police and insurance?

He should report the incident to the police so they can document that the vehicle was stolen. You should also inform the insurance company the same and provide documentation to prove he was out of the country and provide them with the police report information regarding the stolen vehicle.

The story sounds phoney unless he can prove the car was actually "stolen" and not being used by a family member or friend who had access to the keys..
