If a manager singles you out in a large meeting and spends 3 minutes verbally cursing and degrading you individually in the presents of your colleages and co-workers, is there any ground for lawsuit.

Probably not.

It depends on whether what he said was an opinion or a fact and whether it was true or not and whether you were damaged as a result.
