Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Disclaimers?

I was told by a teacher that disclaimers do not necessarily absolve someone of responsibility. Can anyone elaborate?

Re: Disclaimers?

The teacher is correct -- but the exceptions to the rule are too many and varied to really explain here. It is very hard to avoid a release or disclaimer -- so don't just sign them without thought.

As an aside, I have on occasion editied the release. For instance. sometimes you can just cross out the word "not" and the release will read differently. When they pass these things out, they rarely read them when you hand them back in.
