we are going to file a wrongful death suit against a man who killed our daughter in a wreck he was driving she was the passenger . is it legal for him to get rid of assets or sign them over to someone else to hid them

Until there is a judgment against him he can dispose of assets as he sees fit. Divesting himself of control of assets to protect them against potential judgment is allowed. You need to work with an attorney on these issues.
