Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

i was hit by a car and received 6 staples in my head due to the injury. I was intoxicated at the time. Do I have any grounds to receive compensation for my injury and loss of work?

This is a contributory negligence state, so you may have "grounds", but only if you can prove to what degee the driver was "at fault". Did anyone call the police? Was he drunk too? Was there a report? Were there witnesses to the incident? If you staggered and fell into the side of a parked vehicle, then the driver has 0% fault. On the other hand, if you passed out in the middle of a well lit parking lot, and he ran you over, he has substantially more fault, but not 100%, because part of the fault was due to your drunken state.
