Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

home injury

i was watching a friends child in my home and he had fallen down. i contacted the parent immediately and she said to leave him there until she got off from work. after she had arrived, they went home and i called to make sure the boy was okay. both the mother and father had stated he was fine and bandaged him up themselves. two days later they call me to tell me the boy has broken his arm and want to know what i am going to do about there bills. should i be responsible for the broken arm injuries?

Re: home injury

Report the accisendt to your homeowners insurance company. You may have liability coverage or medical payments coverage. If so they will investigate and handle the claim. Otherwise you should consult your attorney.

Re: home injury

Whether you will be held responsible is a question for a jury. A claim will be presented against you. If you have a home owners insurance policy you must notify your insurance company of the accident immediately. If you don't have insurance advise the parents.

Re: home injury

What Mr. Slater states may be right, but you may want to inquire whether the parents have health insurance that covered the child's medical bills, which may not be significant if the injury was limited to a broken arm. It's possible that the parents may not file a claim if the bills are paid by their insurance carrier.

If a formal claim is made, and you have homwowner's insurance coverage, notify your homeowner's insurance company immediately. Good luck.
