If it is a city-owned (versus contract operated) bus, then the per person maximum in Florida is $200,000 without a claims bill. The $200,000 is not automatic. It depends on the nature of the injuries.

You also have to put the government entity on notice and wait 6 months before you can file suit. Negligence is a question of fact to be determined by the trier of fact. These are not easy cases and can be quite costly with the necessity for hiring an accident reconstruction expert.
