Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

i was involved in a car accident, i was asleep in the back seat when my friend lost control of her car and hit a pole which resulted to the death of her and the passanger . I was ejected over 30 feet and was airlifted to a hospital. The driver was drunk and under the influence of other drugs , she was 21 but i was not. As if dealing with all of this isnt enough now i have bills pilling up . What can i do , her insurance sent me a $10,000 check but my hospital bills are more than $ 200,000 and thats with my medical insurance already paying a percentage.

The Hospitals will most likely end up writing this off, though there's no guarantee that they won't ding your credit on the process. Have you confirmed that you do not have available to you UM/UIM coverage under your policy of auto insurance (or your parents). I'll be happy to help if I can. [email protected]

I wouldn't cash the check and/or sign any release until you make sure that there isn't any other available insurance, someone else who is responsible, or other avenues to pursue.

The fact that you have health insurance is a plus, if you handle this properly you may be able to get the health insurance company to reduce the amount owed based upon the small recovery. You may also be able to do this same thing with the hospital.

I would definitely have an attorney look further to see if there is any other available coverage before you make your next move.

I would be happy to look into this issue for you and would agree not to take any attorneys fees off of the 10K and allow that to go directly to you and would only take an agreed to fee if we were able to find additional sources of recovery.

If you would like to chat further feel free to give me a ring, or shoot me an email, my office is here in South Florida.

good luck,
