Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
My three minor children were involved in a bad car accident in Florida years ago. At that time I wanted to get an attorney and file for my three minor children, however was talked out of it by my in-laws who were also in the vehicle. All three children were admitted to the hospital, as well as my in-laws. My in-laws sued because it was a company vehicle that caused the accident. It went on for many years before they finally settled. I was kept in the dark on any money amounts that may have been awarded to my three minor children, which were in my custody (not their son's). I never was asked to sign any legal forms concerning this lawsuit. How can I find out the information concerning this as it was back in 97' 98'...and they settled with this company some years after that.

Something does not sound right here. A guardian must be appointed for minors in order to sue if they are not represented by their parents. Moreover, if each child received a settlement of more than 25K, a guardianship must be set up. It does not seem that a lawsuit could take place without your involvement. If your in-laws will not discuss the matter, see a lawyer. www.FloridaPersonalInjuryTrialLawyer.com
