First if your son is listed on another insurance policy, or lives with a family member who has insurance, he may be entitled to coverage through one of those policies.
The liability of the other person is not determined by the registration of the car your son was driving, so if the other person caused the crash then your son should be entitled to some recovery. Your son should seek an in person consultation with a personal injury attorney.
As long as the other party caused the crash, then the other party is likely responsible for your son's damages. However, since your son was driving an uninsured car, the other side may get a "setoff" of $10,000 against his medical bills, which means that they don't have to pay that first portion of his bills. If you'd like to discuss your son's rights further, feel free to contact me. Good luck on this matter.

If your son was injured in the collision, then he has a claim against the other driver. The insurance situation will make things a bit complicated, however. We would be interested in speaking to your son about the situation. We offer a free initial consultation, and are in Palm Beach County.
