Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
I previously asked a question regarding a personal injury. I realize that although this is not a case large enough to be taken on by an attorney so I would like to find out if there is a way to pursue, on my own, reimbursement of medical expenses if injured on another partys' property and if so what steps should I take. (take note please that the property owners were absolutley liable for the injury and have stated their knowledge of liability and proving liabilty on the establishment owners part would not be difficult.) My origianl question is copied below.
((In August I sustained injuries from a fall which occured on the property of a local business. This is a place which I have frequented for many years and all of the employees as well as the regular patrons were aware of my fall and subsaquent injury and have called to check on me several times since the injury. I have acquired several Drs bills which I am unable to pay and wish to seek payment on these bills. In addition I was out of work for four weeks due to the injury. I have sent a letter to the owners of the property along with copies of the bills requesting payment on the outstanding bills. I included my contact information so that I may be contacted directly. The letter was sent via certified mail and proof of receipt has been returned to me. I have contacted an attorney however this matter is not large enough for them to take the case.
After not having received a response within 10 days of the first letter, I have sent a second letter requesting immediate action and notification of action or intention.
At this point I am not sure where to go from here.
Any advice you can provide will be appreciated.))

Go to the county courthouse and loccate the clerk's office. They will have forms there for you to fill out to bring a small claims action. The process is pretty straightforward.
Most premise liability policies provide for payment of medical bills regardless of fault. Try to find out who the insurance company is covering the property. If the owner will not tell you, you need to do some homework. You need to go to the property appraiser's office and find out if the property has a mortgage on it. If so, call the lender and it will tell you who the insurance co is. Call the insurance co and make a claim and demand payment.
Also, because one attorney turned your case down does not mean another will.
Good luck.
