Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Question about employer liability

I was injured on the job and would like to know if my employer and their maintenance company could be negligent. The injury occured when a door to a truck failed and fell onto my shoulder resulting in muscular contusions that required a doctor's visit. The door in question was supposedly fixed however was only temporarily repaired awaiting parts. I was not informed of this and had no reason to believe the door would fall. Is my employer liable for not informing me of the possibility of door failure and would they be negligent for not insuring a safe work environment? Also, would the company that provided the temporary repair be liable for not informing them if that was the case? They are not treating this as a lost-time accident however my doctor has me on light duty which means I can't work in the same capacity as usual.

Re: Question about employer liability

If the maintenace company was an outside contractor a claim may be made against them. If your employer provides workmens compensation benefits no claim can be made against him.
