what happens when a defendant fails to respond to the request for admissions by the deadline?

The statements that the defendant was suppose to admit or deny are deemed admitted. You may be able to file a motion to escape this problem if you have good cause for not having responded in a timely manner. If your lawyer dropped the ball and the mistake causes you to lose an otherwise winable case, you may have a viable legal malpractice claim against your lawyer. Good luck.
