Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

I am seeking legal help for my parents. They were both involved in a car accident in February of this year were the other driver left the scene and got arrested for hit and run. We hired a lawyer to handle our case. He has received the PIP checks and other checks from both insurance companies but has yet to pay the bills for the hospital and now the hospital has threatening my parents to send the bills collections. The lawyer did say he was going to negotiate but has not yet done so since the hospital has called us about the bills and it's been a month since we have signed the checks for the lawyer to use to pay the bills. We do not feel the lawyer has been working on our case like we would like and now he has not returned our phone calls or emails and it has been weeks. We don't know if this is what a lawyer does or what's going with our case or if we need to seek help with another lawyer while we still have this lawyer but we need help.

Your attorney may indeed be negotiating the bills. You will continue to receive the bills, however, PIP is only $10,000 per person and may not cover all the bills. However, your attorney should be telling you what's going on and advising you of the status of the case.
