Statute of Limitations for Defamation

I understand that the Statute of Limitations for Defamation and Slander is 2 years. Does the clock start ticking when the lawyer signs or when the courthouse signs? When does the the clock stop ticking? Is it when the suit is filed? Or when the defendant is served?

The statute of limitation for libel and slander is 2 years pursuant to Florida Statutes section 95.11. The "clock starts ticking" from the moment that the alleged libel or slander occurred -OR- when you first received notice of the alleged libel or slander. The "clock stops ticking" once you file the lawsuit. I hope this information is helpful.
