Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
Last Sunday I scratched a car in the grocery store parking lot. I waited about 30 minutes to see if the owner showed up, left my phone number when the owner did not, and left. When the owner called me, I asked him to get estimates for the damage, and offered to pay the damage. I gave him a check for the amount on the lowest estimate made out to the body shop, about 550 dollars, and had him sign a release of liability form I found on the internet. He called me again, saying that he wanted me to make the check out to him, because he wanted to get a paint job for the whole car, so I asked him if 400 would be ok. He said that was fine, I made the check out to him, voided the other one, and left. Now his father is calling me threatening to call the cops for hit and run if I don't give him the extra money. What should I do?

It is not hit and run. Tell Daddy to go ahead and cal the police because you would like to speak to them about his attempted extortion. Your releases and paperwork should be sufficient.
