Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

After test driving a used $1200 motor scooter on a dealer's lot I went park it. The kick stand did not fully engage and the scooter was dropped breaking a piece of the front plastic.

The dealer is now telling me that I am responsible for the repair which may exceed the price of the bike.since the parts may not be available. Is this true? Should the dealer have insurance in place to cover this type of mishap?

The dealer has insurance.

Because the kickstand did not function properly you are not responsible.
