Clean title and mechanical problems are two different issues. Without reading the purchase contract , no one give a proper answer.

The phrase "clean title" is generally the same as "clear title". Clean title does not relate to the condition of the vehicle. It simply means that there are no disputes about legal ownership, i.e., the car is not stolen, the car is paid for and all the title paperwork is in order such that the seller can legally transfer undisputed ownership to the buyer. You would probably have to have some type of warranty or guarantee from the seller as to the condition of the car in order to have a legal claim. Promising clean title by itself would not give you a claim, in the absence of any dispute about title.
