Legal Question in Product Liability in Florida
ups shipping damage
My business recently sent a TV chassis to a factory out let to be repaired. It was packed very well, but UPS handelers damaged the chassis beyond repair. The replacement cost is about $ 1200.00,but the parts or the entire chassis are no longer available thru the Hitachi Co. Ups says since I didnt declare a value on the item they can only pay $ 100.00. There representive at the destination inspected the box and said it looked like it was packed OK. Do I have any recourse on the claim?

Re: ups shipping damage
Generally speaking, no -- if it was an interstate shipping job (from one state to another), specific federal laws apply that limit the liability of the shippers.
