Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
I am a 20 year old student, who rented an efficiency in florida for a year but now the landlord is kicking me out and she does not want to return my entire security deposit. She has insisted on giving my mother half the security deposit however I paid for the security deposit. There were no damages to the property and there was no written documents, it was oral. What do i do ??

Oral lease with a security deposit. They still have to give you written notice within 30 days of departure stating the damages which are being deducted. If not done, then you have a claim in small claims court for the return. they can still sue you for any alleged damages. there is an attorney fee provision so you may want to consult a lawyer.
