Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

name added on a house title

My husband bought our house 30 days before we married, can my name be added on to the Title and the load without having to refinance. Can we go to the City and do it ourselves, we are in a finacial situation and we would like to add my name without occuring hundreds/thousands of dollars to do it. If we can, what is the first thing we should look at doing first?

There should be no problem with the mortgage in transferring the home into your joint names - just a deed from your husband to the two of you. I see no reason why you would want to be on the loan, though. One concern is that documentary stamps will be due upon recording the deed - $7.00 per thousand dollars of the balance on the loan/mortgage. I would suggest consulting with an attorney before taking any action, and to have the attorney prepare the warranty deed if you decide to do the transfer.
