Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Adding adult childrens name on title of property

My father in law wants to add his son and my name to the title of his property with survivership. His wife died in Sept 2006, and he wants us to move in with him. By adding our names can we get a loan/mortgage to fix property? and does this mess up is medicare benefits? We would need to stay in house for at least 2 years as not to pay capital gains if sold, correct?

Re: Adding adult childrens name on title of property

The answer to the first part of your question is yes he can add the two names to the deed. However,it would be important to review whether the would interfere with certain federal benefits(medicare and other govt assist) you father in law may need in the future.I would have to have all the specific facts to advise you further. If you want to retain my firm to give you further assistance call me at office or send me an e-mail.But before proceeding retain my firm another attorney.
