Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Adding my son to the deed on my house
How do I go about adding my son to the deed for a mortgaged home I own with my husband. We are having difficulty obtaining property insurance for this second home, and will be able to obtain coverage through him, if he is on the deed. My son contributed part of his own savings towards the down payment for this home. When we bought it, the mortgage company neglected to follow our request to have my son included in the deed. This was not what we intended, but we did go ahead with closing on the home. We would like to rectify this problem, and get his name on the deed. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Speak with your mortgage lender first.
