advance rent vs. security deposit.

i had signed a 3 mon lease from sept 6 to dec 6th, for 600/month plus 600 for what was at the time mutually agreed to be a security deposit (i even wrote it on the check i gave her). i moved out promptly on the 6th in accordance with the terms of the lease, asked for my deposit back.

unfortunately, even though the terms of 3 lease dictate a month lease, essentially what my landlord is saying it's really a 4 month lease (sept to dec), and that that $600 on top of the rent was for advance rent that i could live out from dec 6 to jan 6 if i chose to.

im saying security deposit, she says advance rent. either way, i only stayed 3 months, which were the terms of the lease. she wont give me my money back. am i entitled to it?
