apprasil fee

I paid $400 for an apprasil on a property that I was going to purchase back in sep/oct of 2008. one week before I was about to close on the home the title company found a lien on the property. Now, my question is will I be able to get my money back since I didn't purchase the home? and also I believe a title search should of been done way in advance prior to me paying an appraisal fee.

Title searches can be done in advance of the closing, but it would have to be updated prior to closing, and the lien could have been filed in the "gap" period. You may want to contact the appraiser and ask if they would refund the money, but they are under no obligation to do so. They did the work they were contracted to do, and should be paid for their services.
