Assesment
I recently purchased a condo and paid cash for it. I employed a title company to get title insurance and close the deal. I have recieved a statement for an assesment of $4500 to the unit for huricane damages that occured before I was the owner. Never was this disclosed to me by the prior owner or title company that there was going to be an assesment. Am I responsible for this bill?

Possibly. If the assessment was assessed after the date of the purchase, you are probably responsible. This is controlled by the terms of the Contract which you entered into for the purchase of the unit.
I would suggest that you consult with a qualified real estate attorney who can read the Contract for Sale and Purchase and determine who has the responsibility to pay. If the Seller or realtor knew about this assessment, he/she had the responsibility to disclose it to you even if it was not yet formally assessed. You may be able to demand that the seller or realtor pay for the same. If not, then you may have full responsibility.
