Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Yesterday around 6am I was broken into. The guy who brke into my apt. did so through my bedroom window. The guy lives nxt door to me & is sercurity for the apt. At least tht's wht thy told me whn I moved in. Tht I would be safe living on the 1st fl cause he was next door. He would always ask me where I was going. One of the officers said, tht he said he came in the thrgh the frnt windw not the bck. Whn it was look at clser the windw could be opned but appeared lcked. The hook for the lck was brokn off. He had priors yt he was sercurity cause he was nice. Whn I called the office & spoke to one of the ownrs they really didn't believe me. I tld him he had priors & was aressted. He still thought I was not being truthful. I am really uncomfortable living there & I wnt to knw if there is something leagally I can do. I was in danger having him live right nxt door to me. I'm scared of being in my apt alone & hvn't sleep. I shouldn't have to go through this. This could have been avoid. I'm also scared he might come back to do something else cause I called the cops. I shouldn't have to be or feel this way. Please tell me if there is something I can do. Thank you.

You may have a claim for negligent security against the owner of the property and any management company in charge of maintaining the property. Seek the advice of counsel and good luck.
